Microsoft VOIP server beta to be released this month

Software giant Microsoft has said that they are planning to release a public beta of new VOIP server software later this month.

Microsoft claims that this suite of application would help corporations integrate VoIP services with legacy phone networks and its Office application suite.

Interested users would be able to register on the company’s website and download the beta versions of Office Communications Server 2007, as well as Office Communicator 2007.

An official announcement by the company is expected to be released to the media at the VoiceCon Spring 2007 conference in Orlando, Florida.

The company further claims that companies going for this product would not be required to rip out their existing PBX (private branch exchange) phone networks. The application suite would interoperate with PBX networks through SIP (session initiation protocol). It would be compatible with different phones, devices, and management tools.
