Cisco talks about Cisco Unified Communications system 6.0
Networking industry giant Cisco has announced that they are soon going to offer their customers an upgraded version of its set of software and network equipment.
These products connect desktop computers to office phones and mobile phones. The latest version of this suite is Cisco Unified Communications system 6.0 and the company said that this updated edition would include features such as a single-voice mail system and the ability to instantly transfer calls on mobile phones to office phones.
Market analysts say that such a product launch is essential for the company to expand its products and offerings. The company needs to have products outside their primary product line of routers and switches.
The company added that this new product launch would enable their customers to make calls and send instant messages from cell phones just as they would from their office computers or phones.
IDC research analyst Abner Germanow spoke about Cisco: “Driving all or a majority of all the various pipes of communications through a common infrastructure — when you do that, you start touching not only the classic communications companies like Avaya and Nortel but also business applications of SAP, Oracle and Microsoft.”
