Unix/Froot-A : Wanuk targeting Sun Solaris 10
Security experts have warned that a new worm named Unix/Froot-A or Wanuk is in wild trying to exploit a flaw in Sun Microsystems Inc.’s Solaris 10 OS.
The worm is pretty crudely coded and delivers crude artsy payloads. It takes advantage of a recently fixed flaw in the operating system.
The exploit code for this flaw was made public on the net last month.
Security experts said that the worm tries to take advantage of the flaw within the Telnet daemon. A successful attempt can enable a hacker to gain complete control over the machine.
Security firm Sophos said in a statement that they have not received any confirmed report of a successful attack from any company. They are advising the system administrators to update their Solaris 10 installations.
