Adobe to launch Apollo beta later this month
Software Company Adobe has said that they are aiming to release a beta version of their upcoming new runtime codenamed Apollo sometime this month.
Apollo has been designed to allow rich Web-based applications to run offline. Experts claim that this technology could become a new threat to programming platforms such as Sun’s own Java and Microsoft’s.NET.
This beta launch is expected to coincide with the ApolloCamp event Adobe is holding at the middle of the current month.
This event is expected to give developers a chance to checkout this new programming platform.
Pam Deziel, director, Platform Business Unit, for Adobe added in a statement: “Macromedia Central was an early [version] of Apollo.”
Central established a platform which allowed users to run Flash-based applications offline. We now expect to see something more feature rich from the company which gave us the Photoshop.
