Oracle to acquire business intelligence software vendor Hyperion Solutions

Software giant Oracle has said that they are planning to acquire business intelligence software vendor Hyperion Solutions.

The deal could be worth as much as $3.3 billion and is expected to be completed in a cash transaction.

Oracle is planning to integrate Hyperion’s software with its own business intelligence and analytics tools. This would enable them to offer their customers a range of performance management capabilities, including planning, budgeting and operational analytics.

This would also be one of the latest acquisitions from Oracle which has in the recent times taken over companies including PeopleSoft, Siebel Systems, and several others.

Oracle said that they hope to complete the acquisition by April this year. They are paying around $52 per share for Hyperion which is a premium of 21 percent over Hyperion’s prevailing stock prices.
