Microsoft set to update Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications
Software giant Microsoft has said that they are set to update the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications feature in their operating system product.
The company added that they would start giving some customers the benefit of the doubt on whether their installed copy of the OS is pirated or not.
They are going to add a new category to the tool called “indeterminate”. This would be for particular instances where they cannot really determine whether the installed copy is original or not.
Currently, the tool has been designed to label the OS copy as either valid or invalid. Users on invalided copies are prevented from downloading patches and updates from the company’s official web service.
The company has faced severe criticism on how the tool works. A lot of users have complained that the tool labels their original copy of the OS as pirated.
