FlickrDown: Download images from Flickr in bulk!

Flickr is undoubtedly one of the most popular online photo storage sites today. But it can be a pain to navigate because of the number of clicks and page loads involved . Here are two tools, both of which provide easy alternatives to browse and download images off Flickr, without clicking on a bazillion links.

FlickrDown is a freeware Windows application. It’s basically a quick and dirty fix for previewing and downloading images off Flickr. You can look up photos using username, e-mail, tags or group names. It breaks up the results into individual sets. You can then choose to see thumbnail previews of the images and check the ones you want to download.

Tell it where on your hard drive you want the images saved, click the download button and wait for it to get the job done. FlickrDown only downloads original, full-sized images – no resized nonsense, thank you very much!

If you’d rather not install software on your PC for this purpose, there’s an online alternative available.

FlickrLeech provides us a much better way to preview albums than the official Flickr interface. It however doesn’t offer the same ease of downloading multiple original-sized images that FlickrDown does. When you click on a thumbnail you’re taken to the page for that image on Flickr.

I know at least one more tool (free, of course) for downloading pics from Flickr: Fototagger, http://www.fototagger.com.

I don’t know if FlickrDown lets you do it, but Fototagger preserves Flickr notes (the regions with captions you create on the Flickr site) and you can see them on the desktop.

    Hope this can help somebody.
