Google Earth data files are now searchable
Google has said that they have now made a searchable index of Google Earth data files. This would now let web users search through and adopt third-party overlays for the Google Earth application.
The company said in a statement that the search engine present in the application would now return KML (Keyhole Markup Language) files developed by people around the world.
Chikai Ohazama, a Google Earth product manager wrote in a blog post: “Users can now search through all of the world’s KML files, making the millions of Google Earth layers on the Web instantly accessible for geobrowsing and exploration.”
They are also planning to integrate a similar functionality on their Google Maps web based service.
