Microsoft launches Live services for Mobile devices

Software industry giant Microsoft has announced the launch of some new Windows Live applications for mobile phones.

The new services include programs that offer search and mapping capabilities on mobile devices.

Microsoft made available their Live Search for Windows Mobile 6 and Live Search for Java. They would be offering these services soon through operators in the U.S. and the U.K.

The company showcased these new services at the ongoing 3GSM World Congress show in Barcelona.

Microsoft said in a statement that the search software includes category-based searching. The service can also map local information using Microsoft’s Virtual Earth.

The company is also providing real-time traffic reports for 25 U.S. cities through their Live branded services.

Microsoft added that these products are currently available for Windows Mobile devices, Nokia Series 40 and Series 60 devices, Motorola’s Razr and SLVR devices. Some particular models of Samsung and LG are also supported.

Microsoft also announced the availability of Windows Live for Windows Mobile. It brings facilities like messaging and e-mail software along with blogging on Live Spaces through mobile phone.
