Marc Fleury leaving JBoss at Red Hat

Open source software entrepreneur Marc Fleury has announced that he is leaving JBoss the company he founded and later sold to Red Hat.

He was already on paternity leave from the company and has now said that he is not going to return. He was due to rejoin the company in March.

Red Hat acquired JBoss last year for $350 million.

Market analysts believe that Fleury left the company because he was somewhat disappointed at the level of investment Red Hat had placed in the JBoss core development team.

Red Hat said in a statement that he is leaving the company to pursue other personal interests, such as teaching, research in biology, music and his family.

Fleury himself said in a statement: “I have done what I can to help Red Hat succeed. People need to understand that Open Source is a tsunami that is transforming the software industry in its wake and its inevitability is now well beyond challenge or the force of individual personality.”
