AOL joins Webmail War with ICQ
Microsoft is involved in it with Hotmail, Yahoo has their Yahoo! Mail, and Google entered recently with GMail. Many other small players in the market are trying to compete with offerings of big mailboxes and value added services. However, the big players rule the larger scene.
The latest player to enter the market is AOL with their new offering of mailing services through ICQmail. ICQmail is offering paid services with 2gig of mail storage along with value additions like calendar, task manager, notepad, wireless access, and pop/imap support.
The services would cost USD19.99 for a year and would include spam control and antivirus protection for mails. Also available would be the capabilities to send and receive attachments worth 20megs. The webmail would also be accessible using WAP ensuring support for mobiles and PDAs.
AOL has teamed up with Mail2World this time to provide these services. They also provide free webmail but with only 6meg mailbox.
