Free Software Foundation reviewing Novell’s right to sell Linux operating system

The Free Software Foundation has said that they are currently reviewing software company Novell’s right to sell new versions of the Linux operating system software. The foundation is responsible for controlling the intellectual property to key parts of the open-source Linux operating system.

Novell has been under a lot of criticism ever since they signed on an agreement with Microsoft for collaboration on interoperability between the Windows OS and Linux.

The critics of the deal have been asking the foundation’s board to ban Novell from distributing new versions of Linux software.

The Free Software Foundation is expected to disclose its ruling within two weeks. Novell has declined to comment on this issue.
