Adobe to retail Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 for $199

Software giant Adobe has revealed new details on their upcoming software product Adobe Lightroom. The company revealed that the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 software is now available for pre-order.

They expect to ship this application starting the mid of next month. The company claims that more than 500,000 photographers helped them improve the application during beta testing.

Adobe Lightroom is specially designed for photographers to help them import, manage and present large volumes of digital photographs.

The introductory price is USD 199 and this is applicable till April 30, 2007. The price would be hiked to USD 299 after this introductory offer.

John Loiacono, senior vice president, Creative Solutions Business Unit at Adobe spoke about this product: “It’s an unlikely scenario that professional photographers would moonlight as software developers. Fortunately for us, they were willing to give it a shot. Everything, from image viewing and evaluation tools to timesaving editing features, was developed with the help of photographers. This was truly a collaborative effort and we extend our thanks to everyone who provided invaluable feedback to help us deliver a powerhouse professional photography tool.”
