Test Windows Vista online before purchasing
Software giant Microsoft is giving web users a chance to preview their upcoming Vista operating system release before going in for a purchase.
This step has been taken by the company to fight software piracy and counterfeiting.
Cori Hartje, director of the genuine software initiative said in a statement that this test program would allow the users to access the preview of Vista on a test drive site.
This test drive website would let the user access a virtual environment that shows how Vista would look and work like when installed on a regular machine.
This way, they would have a legitimate way to check out the Vista OS before deciding on purchasing it for regular installation.
Users going in for this test would not download the OS on their computer itself. Some software would be required to be installed on the machine to let the web service communicate with users for a proper virtual experience.
This test drive would also checkout the system configuration of the visiting user and check if it is compliant with the Vista OS.
