Lotus Connections: IBM to launch social networking services
US based tech giant IBM is soon going to release a new software product through their Lotus division. This new software product would feature a set of social networking services for office workers.
Market analysts believe that this could become the next big market for IBM and Microsoft might find itself lagging once again.
Lotus would be coming out with this business collaboration software with a service called Connections. It would include features enabling workers to share information via the Web. Administrators would have control over what information is made accessible to which group of people.
Lotus Connections could soon become the MySpace.com of office networks. The service would also come loaded with features provided by web based services like del.icio.us and Technorati.
Peter O’Kelly, a collaboration software expert with Burton Group spoke about this upcoming IBM software technology: “This is going to rekindle the competition between Microsoft and IBM. I think IBM is playing offense here.”
