Microsoft Windows Vista would be sold online
Software giant Microsoft has said that they would start offering their upcoming Vista operating system for sale on the net.
The operating system would be sold online and the customers would be able to download it from the internet itself.
This would be a new beginning for the company which has previously sold Windows only on packaged discs or pre-loaded on computers.
Analysts believe that a very small number of customers are going to get Vista by downloading it from the Internet. However, this is a welcome change considering Microsoft is fiddling with distribution methods for their core software products.
The company is also likely to start offering the Office 2007 line of software on this download service. The initial launch is expected to be for the North American market only.
Microsoft also is planning to offer a promotion for buyers of Vista Ultimate. They would get $50 copies of Home Premium for two other PCs.
