Microsoft confirms Office for Mac 2008
There is more good news for Apple fans. Microsoft has now confirmed that they are working on the MS Office version for Mac 2008.
The company also announced plans for spring delivery of beta versions of converters to allow users of Office for Mac 2004, to open, edit, and save files in Office 2007 format.
These converters would ship around six to eight weeks after Office for Mac 2008 ships in the market.
Microsoft confirmed that the Office for Mac suite would appear in the second half of this year and would be compatible with both Intel and PowerPC processor powered Apple Macs.
Though, the company would not be replicating the user interface of the Office 2007 for PC for their Mac version. The Mac version would be based on the Mac design conventions.
However, they would indeed work on making the features in the application more accessible like they did with Office 2007.
The Mac version would also feature some Mac only features like the My Day applet which would provide easy and quick access to the day’s appointments and to-do list. Users would not be required to launch Entourage to get access to this information.
