Google adds Trend feature to Google Reader
Apparently Google loves statistics and they want their users to have some fun with them as well. Google has now added a Trend feature on their Google Reader service.
Google Reader is an online RSS aggregator and users can now see statistics of their RSS feed reading habit on the service.
Google software engineer Mihai Parparita wrote in a blog post informing the users of this new feature addition. Google already have other Trend services for their web searches and music listening habits of the Google Talk messenger users.
Users can see information on subscriptions, starred items, read items, and shared items on the Google Reader Trends.
It also shows what percentile of feeds a user read of all the received entries. Parparita added in the blog post: “If you have any New Year’s resolutions about time management or are a chart geek like me, trends should be useful and fun. You may discover things about your reading habits that you didn’t know.”
I had like them to add trends to Google Mail or Gmail. It would be interesting to see how many mails I get and how many of them are SPAM and how many of them are important enough to be saved for future reference! Eudora’s email client used to have something like this feature.
