Google adding support for POP3 mail accounts in Gmail
Search engine giant Google is said to have added a new feature on their Gmail webmail service. This new feature enables the Gmail users to download mails from other pop3 powered email services.
Some users have confirmed seeing this feature in their backend. Looks like Google is adding this facility to all the Gmail users slowly. We at TechWhack have not seen this feature addition in our Gmail boxes.
Sources say that as many as 5 email accounts can be added using this feature. Users can also remove or keep the transferred mails from their pop3 accounts.
The mails from these accounts can be manipulated using Gmail filters. Another interesting aspect is that Gmail users would also be able to send mails through Google using these email ids.
The mails from these accounts are fetched after a small period of time and user can be sure that he would be up-to-date with the mails on his external servers.
Looks like this feature would benefit a lot of users who wanted to shift to Gmail but had huge archives stored on their older email accounts.
