Soleus version 1.0 is released
Intrinsyc has said that they have now released the first release of their Soleus application. Soleus is basically a Windows CE based operating system for non-smartphones.
However, none of the cell-phone manufacturer has yet committed to develop mobile products based on this software solution.
Intrinsyc spokeswoman Alani Kalfayan said in a statement: “Intrinsyc is in the process of securing design wins … we continue to believe that Soleus-based handsets will ship in 2007.”
Most non smartphone mobile phones currently use proprietary operating systems like Motorola’s P2K and Nokia’s Series 40.
Intrinsyc says that their product is based on standards and they used Microsoft-supplied tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio and Windows CE Platform Builder. The company added that the version 1.0 of Soleus is certified for use on GSM networks.
