Solaris to get security, virtualization features
Sun Microsystems has said that they are adding new security and virtualization features to their operating system Solaris.
The company said that Solaris 10 11/06 is intended to make Solaris the most secure OS in existence.
They now plan to integrate the open Xen hypervisor in Solaris to add virtualization features.
The latest release now features trusted extensions like multilevel security. It also comes with “secure by default” capability.
Sun added that this release also includes Solaris Containers virtualization technology. It would provide secure containers for running applications within the OS.
