Sun Microsystems release Java Standard Edition 6
Sun Microsystems has released the latest version of their Java development kit. This kit would make it easier for developers to meld Java and scripting languages.
The Java Standard Edition 6 (Java SE 6) comes with enhancements which enable the programmers to write applications in Java as well as scripting languages.
This kit supports scripting languages, including JavaScript and Python and these can now run on the Java Virtual Machine.
Jean Elliott, senior director of Java platform product marketing at Sun spoke on this product release: “If you have a team of developers with a mix of skills, it’s nice to have the flexibility to bring different languages together elegantly. You could have hacked it in the past, but now it’s easier.”
This update also includes software from a project called Project Tango. This adds interoperability between Microsoft .Net Web services and Java programs.
