Palm licenses source code of Palm OS Garnet
Smartphone maker Palm has said that they have signed on a deal with Access to get the source code of the Palm OS Garnet.
This deal would cost them around $44 million. This version of the Palm OS powers several Treo smartphones and all Palm handheld computers.
As per this deal, Palm would get a perpetual license to use and develop the Palm OS Garnet code base. And they would get to keep the ownership rights in its developments.
Access had acquired PalmSource in September 2005 for $324 million.
