Microsoft to soon offer Open XML Support for Mac’s MS Office
Software giant Microsoft recently launched the latest version of their office productivity suite MS Office 2007 for their business customers. The public launch is slated for January next year.
The company has now said that they would be releasing convertors for the Mac version of Office to enable them support the new format used by MS Office 2007.
Microsoft is using a brand new Open XML format in this latest version of Office 2007 and these convertors would help the Mac users of Office suite to open files in this format.
Microsoft developer Sheridan Jones said in a statement that free public beta version of the file converters is set for release in spring 2007. Sheridan said: “The next version of Office for Mac will natively read the Open XML format; users of the current version of Office will have converters in order to maintain compatibility with the new Office for Windows.”
Users of Office 2007 can also save files in various other formats to make them accessible in other office productivity suites.
