Google to close down Google Answers service

Google might be the dominating player in the search engine market. They might be ruling the internet advertising industry. But they really do not end up as a winner in every segment they enter. They failed to match the popularity of YouTube.com and ended up paying big money to acquire it.

The latest news in is that the company is now going to close their Google Answers service. This just might be a hint that the company wants to concentrate on their primary services. Company’s top people have said in the recent times that they have too many neglected services, which do not meet up with the expectations of the people.

Their primary rival in the search engine market Yahoo! has a similar service named Yahoo! Answers. And it has become real popular amongst the web users. Google had experts working for them to answer user’s questions for a fee. Yahoo! on the other hand rely on the power of community and the answers are provided free of cost.

Microsoft is a recent entrant in this market and they might see this as an opportunity to get a solid base in this segment.
