Microsoft starts delivering Internet Explorer 7 as a high priority update
Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that they have now started delivering their latest browser update Internet Explorer 7 through Automatic Update mechanism.
IE7 is being sent to Windows XP SP2 users as a high priority update. Margaret Cobb, the group product manager for the browser had said about this update last month: “We’ve told enterprise customers to be ready [for IE 7] by Nov. 1”.
Johannes Ullrich, the ISC’s chief research officer, in a note posted online wrote about this update cautioning users and corporate entities: “Unless you setup the respective blocking script, expect IE 7 to be installed on your systems if they are configured to retrieve and install high priority updates from Windows Update.”
The company has already provided corporate customers with a toolkit that lets users and enterprises indefinitely postpone IE 7’s installation. Interested users can of course download the web browser manually.
