Acer disappointed with the pricing of Windows Vista Basic
Acer has been one of the fastest growing laptop manufacturers in the market and they are also a partner of Microsoft.
However, the company has somewhat criticized Microsoft through a recent statement from their senior corporate vice president Jim Wong. Wong said that the lack of features in Windows Vista Basic does not make the product the equivalent of the XP Home.
He said: “The new [Vista] experience you hear of, if you get Basic, you won’t feel it at all. There’s no [Aero] graphics, no Media Center, no remote control. Right at the beginning they started talking about the experience of [Vista Home] Premium. Premium is the real Vista,”
He added that most consumers would simply avoid going for this edition of Vista ending up paying more for the Premium edition. And considering the fact that the manufacturer’s license for Vista Home Premium is 10% more expensive than for XP Home it would end up hurting them in the longer run.
