Gartner recommends corporations to consider upgrading to Internet Explorer 7

Gartner analysts have said in a report that corporate entities considering dropping Internet Explorer browser for alternatives should consider upgrading to Internet Explorer 7.

Gartner’s trio of analysts — Ray Valdes, Neil MacDonald, and Michael Silver said in a report that despite the fact that Internet Explorer continues to suffer from security vulnerabilities, it is enough of an improvement that organizations should upgrade from older editions.

The new browser introduces features like tabbed browsing, integrated search and RSS. Microsoft has also improved the security of the application which should result in fewer bugs in the longer run.

The report further recommended the organizations using older generation of operating systems to upgrade to Windows XP SP2 to get access to Internet Explorer 7. Otherwise, they should move onto alternative browsers like Opera and Mozilla Firefox.
