MSN Messenger goodies go paid
MSN Messenger Beta users have started to see the paid smilies and other packs being promoted from inside Messenger window. Users get to see snippets of the extra packs, which they can click on to go to the Blue Mountain popup window, where they can buy them.
AOL is another company who sells these kinds of goodies for their messenger. However, it is not very clear how many of the users actually buy them. With so many sites out there distributing custom made backgrounds, emoticons for free, I doubt MSN would get many buyers for this move to generate more revenues from their free MSN Messenger.
MSN Messenger 7 is still in limited beta testing. The new features are mainly nudges, winks and more importantly the ability to set status before logging in. Also notable is the integration of MSN search features from both the messenger and chat windows.

Looks a bit silly to me. You can get hundreds if not thousands of those emoticons and avatars for free at sites like http://www.mess.be
Are they seriously thinking people are going to pay for them?
