Windows Defender out of beta testing
Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Defender application is now out of beta and is available as a free download.
Ben Fathi, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s security technology unit officially announced the launch of the final version of this application at the RSA’s Conference Europe 2006 in Nice, France.
Interestingly, the product has been undergoing beta testing for around 2 years after Microsoft acquired the technology from Giant Company.
The first test release was made available to public in January 2005.
The final product features a new scanning engine which provides enhanced performance.
