Soft solutions announces the commercial release of 4-sight fax version 7, adding key functionality to server and client programs while expanding platform and modem support

Atlanta, GA —-September 30, 2006—- Soft Solutions announces 4-Sight FAX Version 7, representing a significant update to its signature fax server solution. With more than a decade of market presence, 4-Sight FAX has been broadened to run natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macintosh servers, including the powerful Xserve platform, and to support all Macintosh internal modems – further expanding implementation options for this cross-platform enterprise faxing solution.

Soft Solutions is releasing the Version 7 Fax Server as a universal binary build to work seamlessly on the latest Intel-based Mac servers, including the Xserve Xeon-based 64-bit servers, along with existing PowerPC-based Macs. Modem support has also been expanded to include all Apple internal modems, the lower-cost Apple USB modem and the MultiTech 5634ZBA-DID Router/Modem, among others.

Along with broadened platform support, the Version 7 upgrade loosens traditional client-side limitations by providing direct client access to the Server address book. Authorized client users now have the ability to add, edit, and delete address book entries located on the server. Import speed for the client address book has been dramatically improved, enabling users to import 10,000-plus entries in seconds vs. minutes. Individual fax client users also gain the ability to customize their own fax printing options, which were previously directed at all users. For example, any user can elect to have their incoming and/or outgoing faxes printed to a specific personal printer or delivered paperless to their fax client.

The 4-Sight FAX Version 7 upgrade also includes a new suite of archive and search tools. The Fax Archive system provides quick access to a company’s entire fax history with individual fax archive queues, including a search tool that provides convenient date-range access to the fax history. Users can view archived faxes in both TIFF and PDF format.

Businesses that require an audit trail will now be able to document all successfully sent or received faxes thanks to a new server-side Receipt Confirmation feature. These confirmation records cannot be altered and can be used as official legal documentation of fax transactions. Official confirmation receipts can be printed and, with implementation of the E-mail Suite, they can be sent to others via e-mail as well.

Delivering new fax editing options, Version 7 provides fax client users a robust fax annotation tool that enables them to draw, write, type, copy, paste, erase, undo, and save modified faxes. Always retaining the unchanged original fax, users can easily forward marked-up fax copies to others via fax, or via e-mail with the use of the E-mail Suite. Both users and Administrators now have the ability to add a sender’s fax number to the new “block” or “junk fax” list. Mac OS X users also gain an intelligent dock item that displays the number of new unread faxes received.

Other client-side enhancements that will speed up faxing tasks include a convenient duplication tool that allows users to copy contact entries with a single keystroke, and a search tool in the Fax Composer client address book that gives users the ability to readily locate fax recipients while composing faxes.

4-Sight FAX Version 7 is now commercially available and shipping. The cross-platform client runs on Macintosh OS X, Macintosh OS 9 and Windows, while the fax server runs on Intel- or PowerPC-based Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. Universal binary support for the 4-Sight FAX Client software is currently in Beta test and is planned for release in October, 2006. Full release of the FaxPack cross-platform plug-in family for 4D and FileMaker Pro are also planned for release in October, 2006. Version 7 will support the upcoming Macintosh Leopard (OS X 10.5) within 30 days of its public release. The 4-Sight FAX Version 7 program ships in English, French and German.

Customers with new licenses purchased from August 28, 2006 to date and those under the Annual Updates and Support Plan will receive the Version 7 registration codes at no additional charge. Companies eligible to receive the Version 7 upgrade should contact Soft Solutions for the permanent serial and license codes when they are ready to upgrade.
