Microsoft might launch Express Upgrade program for Vista this month
Software giant Microsoft is expected to launch an Express Upgrade program, which would give the new buyers of Windows XP operating system a coupon for a free or discounted upgrade to Windows Vista through March 15.
This program would be aimed to boost sales of personal computers this upcoming holiday season.
Considering the launch of Vista is delayed till early next year, PC manufacturers are worried that many potential buyers would delay their purchases to get Vista next year.
Microsoft is now expected to include coupons in each Windows XP SKU that will entitle users to a free or discounted Vista upgrade when it ships in the first quarter of 2007.
However, these coupons might be limited to only those machines, which meet the requirement for running Vista operating system in its full glory.
