Google shutting down Google Desktop now
More disappointing news from Google.
The company has now announced that they are shutting down Google Desktop.
This app was originally launched back in 2004 when searching for files on Windows operating system was painful task. Google later launched similar products for other operating systems.
Things have changed massively in the last couple of years. Microsoft has included very powerful searching in both Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Though we are still big fans of the Google Quick Search Box which was a byproduct of this platform.
Google said:
As such, we’ll be discontinuing support for Google Desktop, including all of the associated APIs, services, plugins and gadgets.
As of September 14, Google Desktop will no longer be available for download, and existing installations will not be updated to include new features or fixes.
