Manage servers from smartphones using Avocent software

Network equipment maker Avocent has announced two new products, which would enable the network administrators to manage company servers through smartphones remotely.

They can use devices like the popular Blackberry or Windows Mobile-based devices to run applications SonicAdmin QR and SonicAdmin PR to manage any server on a company network from almost anywhere.

Dave Perry, executive vice president of Avocent spoke on the capabilities of these new applications: “When IT administrators can’t get to an office or a computer terminal to access the network, they can instantly respond to nearly any issue via their mobile devices.”

George Hamilton, an analyst with the Yankee Group added: “This would be a handy thing for IT administrators who hop around. It is an advantage to have remote access to the same areas as corporate login users.”
