AOL accused of delivering spyware with its software product
AOL has always been disliked for shipping applications, which deliver more than what the user has expected. They tend to bundle their software applications with stuff, which end up irritating users.
One of these cases has been their latest free Web browser upgrade in its version 9.0.
A software watchdog group is now accusing the company of shipping its product with malicious software. The problem is magnified because AOL has failed to disclose the content of the package and users are not free to opt out of these extra applications installed with the package.
Users are also being warned to be careful about installing this application. Some of the additional applications delivered with the package include QuickTime, RealPlayer, Viewpoint Media Player and Pure Networks Port Magic. In addition, the application also adds on stuff to Internet Explorer.
