Apple showcases Mac OS X Leopard and Leopard Server
Apple Computers displayed the Mac developers and the public their upcoming Mac OS X v10.5 operating system product, which is codenamed Leopard.
The company used the ongoing Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco to display their upcoming operating system product, which would take on Microsoft’s Windows Vista in the coming years.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs added that this product would ship in the retail market by Spring 2007.
Some of the new features in this update include Time Machine, a persistent backup system that keeps track of files on the machine and keep backups. It also provides the user with version control something, which Microsoft is also adding in Vista Operating System.
Another new feature named Space would let the users collect groups of applications required for various tasks and switch between them instantly.
This update would also provide complete support for 64 bit processing. Apple added that they would be incorporating Boot Camp technology in this update to enable people to run Windows OS along with Leopard.
There are many more updates in Leopard, which the Apple fans are eagerly awaiting for.
