Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs would get offline support in Chrome soon!
Google has some excellent news for their fans. The company said that they have been internally testing offline support for Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs in Chrome and they aim to launch it for public later this year.
Google needs these services to be usable offline for their Google Chrome OS based devices to work.
The company has just announced Chromebooks which are going to arrive in the market in the coming months.
Google did support offline functionality in Gmail through Gears but that has been discontinued. They are now using HTML5 technologies for the same.
From the statement they are pretty excited about it so that is very good news for Chrome fans!
