Google Maps for Mobile adds traffic tracking
Search engine giants Google have updated their popular Google Maps for Mobile application to include traffic tracking.
This update also includes the ability to save routes by users for future viewing. The application is available as a free download from the company’s website and would auto-update for existing customers.
Google said in a release that when a user enter a route the application would now indicate traffic flow along the way by tracing segments in green, yellow, or red. Green represents normal traffic flow, yellow indicates some congestion, and red of course signals trouble areas.
Impressively, the application would estimate the traveling time on the route selected by the customer based on the traffic flow on the route.
Google updates this data from various sources for about 30 major U.S. cities. These include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington.
