Symantec: Vista is going to be less secure than totally updated Windows XP installation

Makers of security applications Symantec have said in a statement that they believe that Vista would be less secure than a totally updated Windows XP installation.

The company said in a statement that they have already discovered many security flaws within Vista that have to do with networking. It added: “Microsoft has removed a large body of tried and tested code and replaced it with freshly written code, complete with new corner cases and defects. This may provide for a more stable networking stack in the long term, but stability will suffer in the short term.”

However, Microsoft has responded by saying that considering Vista is currently under heavy beta testing, bugs are bound to be there. And they are sure that Vista is going to be the most secure Windows OS release when it is launched early next year.

Symantec later said that they have provided a report with their findings to the company to look into the security flaws in the beta editions of Vista operating system. Users are mocking this claim by Symantec saying that the company just wants to sell more of their security products by just spreading rumors about the lack of security provided by Vista operating system.
