Google Docs to get HTML5 powered offline support by year end
Google has revealed that they are working on adding offline support to their Docs online suite.
They aim to make it available before the end of the current year.
Google Docs had offline support but it was powered by Gears platform that has been discontinued.
Google is now working on HTML5 based offline support that would not require any special plugin and would work on almost all the current generation browsers.
Gears is still used by Offline Gmail. Google Chrome 12 removes support for Gears. We hope Gmail gets offline support through HTML5 soon as well.
