FileMaker 8.5 now available as a native Intel Mac application

FileMaker has announced the launch of their flagship database application for the Mac and Windows platform. The Apple Mac OS X version now comes as a native Intel Mac application, which promises better performance for the owners of these new machines.

The latest version is now FileMaker Pro 8.5 and it can now link database records with live Web sites and data. This new edition also comes with a new tutorial center for self-training. Another exciting feature of this update is that the software now supports object functions within scripts.

About the Mac version of this application, FileMaker said that the Intel iMac, MacBook, and Mac mini scored 91 to 116 percent faster in benchmark tests than when it is run on older PowerPC computers.

FileMaker president Dominique Goupil spoke about this new product launch: “Delivering web data on demand continues our tradition of setting new standards in the database market. We expect to reignite the workgroup database category with this breakthrough benefit.”

FileMaker 8.5 is available in several versions for different requirements. The various versions are: FileMaker Pro 8.5, FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced, FileMaker Server 8.0v4 and FileMaker Server 8.0v4 Advanced.
