Yahoo launches beta of updated Yahoo! Messenger
Just a day after rivals Microsoft launched their Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! has fired back with a beta of their own next generation instant messenger application.
This updated version provides an enhanced, customizable online instant messaging service. Yahoo! said that the timing of this release was a coincidence, as they had no plans to counter the release from the software giants.
The latest update of the Yahoo! Instant Messenger would allow the users to personalize it with plug-ins and mini software applications. These can be developed by third party companies and Yahoo! plans to provide some of their own.
Yahoo spokeswoman Terrell Karlsten talked about this new release: “It’s a great way to find that perfect gift, or to learn what your friends are interested in. We collaborated closely with Amazon and eBay.”
