FEMOO: An instant messaging service from China Mobile

China Mobile has said that they would soon be launching their own instant messaging service called FEMOO. The company is currently testing the software technology in its Monternet.

This service is expected to enable the consumers to enjoy services like short messages and voice chat. The company is the dominating mobile service provider in the Chinese market and said in a statement that it would not present additional chatting services by service providers for Monternet users since June this year.

They would also allow service providers such as Tencent and Microsoft’s MSN to extend their wireless services to the end of the year. These providers are already offering services on both the Internet and Monternet.

Market analysts believe that the massive user base China Mobile has could enable them to become a large player in this instant messaging market in the coming years.
