eBay to add a ‘Skype Me’ button to classified listings

Ecommerce giant eBay has said that they would be adding a “Skype Me” button to certain categories of listings. This facility would enable the seller and prospective customers to contact each other and interact more closely before finalizing the deal.

eBay acquired Skype for $2.6 billion last year and has been looking out ways to integrate its features on their website and other services.

Visitors on the website would be able to push the on-screen button to contact the seller and voice chat with them. Skype also of course support text chat as well.

Bill Cobb, president of eBay North America spoke about this feature addition: “Skype represents a tremendous opportunity for our sellers to connect even more closely with their buyers. We believe that Skype will enhance the way that people communicate and trade on eBay, especially in high involvement and high price categories.”
