Microsoft Forefront: New name for security appliances from Microsoft

Software giants Microsoft are renaming their security offering and are branding them all under a common name Forefront.

This would include their offerings including Antigen and Microsoft Client ProtectionServices. This news comes at the time when the company is renewing the efforts behind the “people-ready business” initiative.

Bob Muglia, senior vice president of the server and tools business at Microsoft said that this new brand would include Forefront Client Security, and enhanced version of the company’s Microsoft Client Protection software. These tools are aimed at protecting desktops, laptops powered by Microsoft software from viruses and other threats.

The company is betting big on security as they just recently launched Windows Live OneCare subscription suite for Windows OS users.
