Google upgrade Google Earth application

Search engine giant Google has launched an enhanced version of their mapping application Google Earth. The company claims that this is the first major update to this popular software, which has amazed millions of online users around the world.

John Hanke, director of Google Earth and Maps spoke about this new release: “We are excited to celebrate the one year anniversary of Google Earth and the Google Maps API with new technologies for these products. In the past year, we have had more than 100 million unique Google Earth downloads and have enabled over 30,000 websites to create mash-ups combining their own geographic data with the Google Maps API.”

The company has already released both Mac and Linux version of this application and has added localization support for languages including French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Google is also offering a fee-based licensing option for members of the “enterprise community” who might be interested in using this platform for alternative uses like helping customers to track shipments on the world map.
